The Franklin Park Coalition is hosting its first day-long program of outdoor activities tomorrow Saturday the 20th. Activities start at the Valley Gates Parking Lot, midway along the main park road. Look out for pink signs along the road to avoid getting lost.
Schedule:
9:00: Coffee & Donuts - Volunteer in the Woodlands clearing invasives that are killing young trees.
12:00: Pizza for volunteers
12:00 - 2:00: Landscape Watercolor Painting - all materials provided - artists and beginners welcome.
1:00 - 4:00: Tree Climbing (with ropes, harnesses, and helmets) to soaring heights! Ages 6 and up.
1:00-4:00: Outdoor Adventure Activities with REI
• 1:00 Kid-friendly workshop with games on how to protect animals and plants when you’re out in the wilderness.
• 2:00 and 3:00 Guided Family Hike - learn how to experience nature and turn your children into enthusiastic, interested and happy hikers!
4:00-6:00 pm: Weeds as Feed Edible Plants Walk - bring a bag and trowel for harvesting, sample chicory coffee and acorn bread made from park edibles.
