Fall greetings folks:

What an exciting and unprecedented few months it has been! The winds of change are certainly blowing and it’s a good time to take stock of everything that’s important in our personal and professional lives. In this regard, we thank you for your ongoing interest and support of INROADS here in the Boston market of the NE Region.

I wanted to update you on a volunteer opportunity that we’re asking you to consider during our Candidate Preparation activities on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Many of you have previously participated in our Mock Interviewing activity. This completes the advance training we engage our young people in prior to sending them to our corporate partners as potential talent for INROADS Internships. Mock Interviewing is a major learning component in this business cycle’s Candidate Preparation Sessions. This will be our first corporate session for the prospective INROADS class of 2009.

Our hope is to take a sizable quantity of candidates through to the next phase of the INROADS talent development process and we need your assistance. With provided resources, we would like for you to engage a small group (roughly 5 each) of INROADS candidates in brief (10 to 15 minute) individual interviews, followed by brief feedback discussions. We would also like for you to provide an individual paper evaluation to us for each young person. The young people may also interview each other to warm up and practice.

We recognize that most of you are totally at ease with the interviewing scenario and don’t envision that this will be difficult for any of you to accomplish. The skill enhancement that you provide to the prospective interns and the information you provide to us is truly invaluable and really helps us get this outstanding talent on the right track for what comes next in the 2009 placement process. The more interviewers we have, the smaller the candidate groupings and the better we will be able to accommodate each individual candidate in terms of time and attention.

We will provide a facilitator’s guide for your session upon your confirmation. It contains both general and major/industry specific questions for you to use during the interview. Still, we are really relying on your discretion and observation even more so. The evaluation document is also included with the guide. We will also have these documents on-site that Saturday. If you have other informational materials that you want to share with your group, that would be fine, but we do ask you to refrain from openly recruiting any young people to your specific internship programs or company opportunities.

We will hold Mock Interviews from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. following an INROADS Orientation, Impression Management and Interviewing Skills workshops. We would like for you to arrive between 11:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. We will be conveniently housed at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company’s Corporate HQ on 175 Berkeley Street
(please enter on the adjacent 30 St. James Avenue entrance). They have an outstanding training facility and we greatly appreciate their willingness to host this event.

On-street parking is limited, but there are several adjacent parking facilities. Public transportation is an easy alternative via the Green and Orange Lines of the MBTA. Basic directions are attached.

Kindly drop me a quick note to let me know that you got this email. We’re hoping to confirm as many interviewers as possible by November 18, 2008. I am also hoping to lock in a few great corporate identity gifts, gift cards, and the like to make available as candidate prizes. We always try to have some entertaining and fun raffles with the young people after the intense and concentrated development day. Please let me know if your company would like to contribute. Finally, If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

We’re looking forward to working with you and know that your participation will richly benefit our young people.
Best regards,

Terry
